Sara Lom, CEO from the Royal Recreational areas Foundation says: ?¡ãWe are staggered through the

response to your competition and grateful to the Tiffany & Co. Foundation for

this unique chance to restore and renew historic water features over the

5,000 acres of The Royal Recreational areas. The new drinking fountain may

benefit an incredible number of runners, ramblers, riders, bike riders and other people to The

Regal Parks and can, we hope, end up being adopted through other green spaces round the

The Royal Recreational areas Foundation?¡¥s vision is to improve the supply of clean,

healthy, energy ¡§C efficient h2o across the recreational areas and to reduce the

multitude of plastic water containers discarded in the Parks. The amount of

functioning consuming fountains in the united kingdom is at a minimal. A recent survey* exposed

that only 11% of eco-friendly spaces supply working water fountains. 2,Thousand times much more

energy is required to produce bottled water rather than tap water**, so consuming

fountains are a practical and environmentally friendly way to refresh site visitors

and reduce waste.

Tiffany - Across the Water will also see the creation of a sensational new 20ft

tall fountain in St James?¡¥s Park, as well as restoration of the much loved 19th

century Italian Gardens in Kensington Landscapes. Fernanda Kellogg, Chair from the

Board of The Tiffany & Co. Foundation said: ?¡ãI have really loved being a component

of this prestigious judging panel and have already been so amazed with the quality

and range of the records from all around the world. I along with the rest of the

Tiffany & Co Foundation may greatly assume seeing the installation of the

successful designs in London?¡¥s Royal Recreational areas.?¡À

The solar panel was chaired by Michael Freeman that generously donated the Freeman

Family Fountain in order to Hyde Park in 2009. Michael had been joined by eight other

judges*** who assessed distribution from creative designers, architects, technical engineers,

students as well as ordinary members of the public across Europe and through countries

including Australia, Singapore, Russia, South Korea and also the US. British

designers worked out extremely well. Three of the 4 finalists were from the UK

with the 4th being from Italy. Both panel as well as RIBA have been delighted by

the actual response: the competition resulted in three times as many records as would

be normal for other competitions of its kind.

Drinking fountains have performed an important part within London?¡¥s history since 1859

when the very first fountain was unveiled in Snow Slope and inside 11 years there were

A hundred and forty fountains over the capital.

The actual winning designs will now be manufactured as full-size mock-ups. The very first

working units will be in devote the Regal Parks next year. They could

possibly be replicated not only in the actual Royal Recreational areas, but in other Parks throughout

the UK and worldwide.
